Seasons, senses & self: Day 1
Breath. Oxygen in. Carbon dioxide out. Chlorophyll captures the sun. Rice grows in faraway hills. People harvest it, thresh it, sell. Wind drives a turbine; wires carry energy. Water piped here from Wales boils spinach and rice. Food enters the tube my body is built around. Microbes in trillions share the space defined by my skin. Messages pass back and forth along the vagus nerve. Energy enters the bloodstream to power my cells. Neural networks create an awareness of self. Senses inform me about the world. Memories build up a life. Muscles walk me around. I am flow. A dream. Change.
