7. Write yourself a life

Seasons, senses & self

  1. Live at least some of your life.
  2. Start anywhere (even the future). Jump around the faded map of time.
  3. Find an object left over from a closed chapter… Colours? Shape? Texture? Smell?
  4. Scribble quickly – associations, memories. Random order.
  5. Knock that tumble of words into shape.
  6. Start writing an episode. Call yourself Freda or Fred. Tweak the truth.
  7. Find some old photographs, letters. Shuffle and sample. Write.
  8. A couple of eulogies now, in your bestest friends’ voices.
  9. Write a life-in-a-day to sum up your current decade: “Getting up at 7, I…”
  10. Share a page with a trusted friend.
  11. Ignore these instructions.
